01What we store
NearbyReview uses a small number of cookies and browser storage entries. None of them are advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share them with ad networks.
- Session cookie (sb-*-auth-token): keeps you signed in to the dashboard. Set only after you sign in, cleared when you sign out. Strictly necessary.
- Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*): distinguish returning visitors so traffic is counted once per browser. Analytics only; see below.
- Theme preference: remembers light or dark mode. Stored in localStorage, never sent to us.
- City preference: remembers the city you last browsed so search opens there. Strictly functional.
- Rate-limit markers: short-lived server-side records keyed to your connection, used to stop form spam. Not a cookie; nothing is stored in your browser.
02Analytics
We measure how listings and pages are used with first-party event records (for example a profile view, a call tap or a WhatsApp tap) stored against the listing, not against you. These records do not contain your name, account or device identifier and are aggregated for business owners as counts and trends.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand overall traffic: which pages are visited, from where, on what kind of device. It sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies (up to 2 years) and sends page views and interaction events to Google. IP addresses are anonymised, we do not send names, emails or account ids, and we have not enabled advertising features or data sharing with Google's ad products.
You can block Google Analytics with a browser setting or extension, or by installing Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site works the same without it.
03Business microsites on custom domains
When a business points its own domain at its NearbyReview microsite, the pages you see there are served by us and use the same cookies described here. The business does not receive your session or your browsing data.
04Your choices
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie means you cannot stay signed in; blocking the preference entries only resets theme and city each visit. Signing out removes the session cookie immediately.
